The heat can be used to generate steam and electricity, while the neutrons can be captured by a blanket of material surrounding the plasma, creating more tritium for the fuel cycle. 

Inertial confinement uses powerful lasers or ion beams to compress and heat a tiny pellet of fuel to the point of ignition, creating a burst of fusion energy. The pellet is surrounded by a hohlraum, a metal capsule that converts the laser or ion beam into x-rays that uniformly irradiate the fuel.
